Ferriby entertain Alfreton Town at the Eon Visual Media Stadium on Saturday in the FA Cup with Budweiser Fourth Qualifying Round. The Villagers will be hoping to make club history by winning through to the First round proper for the first time. Victory would put them in to the draw give them a chance of playing a Football League side. There is also the possibility of appearing on television, thereby gaining national exposure.
It is obviously a big game for the club on Saturday. As well as looking to progress from a footballing point of view, further progress could raise much need ed funds for ground developments that need to be carried out to meet ground-grading requirements.
Villagers’ Chairman Les Hare said, “We are anticipating a large crowd. We had 520 against Runcorn Linnets in the last round and are hoping for 800 on Saturday, especially as City have no game that day. We hope local football fans will come down to the ground and get behind us. We have a good side who play attractive football and we know we can put on a good performance against any side.” "This current Ferriby squad is a joy to work with and their work ethic is second to none. We have been playing some very good football. The current squad is a joy to work with and we know we can put on a good show against any side. It's not going to be easy but we will give it our best shot against a Conference premier side."
Manager Billy Heath, a former Alfreton player himself, commented, “Alfreton are a Conference Premier side and will start as favourites but that suits us as it puts all the pressure on them. They are the team that is expected to win. The game provides us with a chance to measure how far we have progressed and allows us to compare ourselves with an established side from the next level above us.”
