Ferriby will be looking for back-to-back wins when they entertain Warrington Town on Saturday. The Villagers gained a morale-boosting first win of the season against fancied South Shields on Bank Holiday Monday.

“Skipper James Piercy was in buoyant mood after the game,
“It was a great performance by the lads from start to finish against South Shields. Everyone put in a shift and it was great to come out with a clean sheet.

“We  had  belief  in  the  camp that  this  result  was  coming  and  we  knew  after  the  first  three  games  we  had  been  there  or  thereabouts. Certain  things  had  not  gone  our  way  which  have,  ultimately,  decided  the  results  of  games, so  we  knew  that  if  we  could  turn  up  on  Monday  and  put  in  a  90-minute  performance,  then  we  could  come  out  with  a  positive  result  which  we  did.
 

“Warrington are unbeaten in three games so I’m  expecting  a  tough  game,  so  we  will  have  too  apply  ourselves  correctly  to  ensure  we  come  away  with  the  three  points.”

The Villagers produced an outstanding team performance to defeat South Shields on Monday. It may have been a result that surprised many as the visitors are expected to win the division this season. Shields put Ferriby under pressure for much of the second-half but they produced little in the way of clear-cut chances.

Ferriby’s defence and midfield were excellent at pressing Shields and the visitors were often forced back towards their own goal. Ferriby’s defence may be lacking experience at this level but they  are fast growing in to what is required and expected of them. Having conceded a couple of late goals in recent games, they held their nerve to play-out the game on Monday and keep a clean-sheet.

They were also forced into careless mistakes, none more so than the one that led to Jordan Harrison’s goal on the stroke of half-time.  Shields keeper Liam Connell chipped the ball from just outside his area to the unmarked Harrison who had the skill, nerve and presence of mind to lob the keeper from 45-yards.

Two well-finished  goals from debutant Luke Hinsley at each end of the game sealed a valuable win.

Following Monday’s game, Chris Bolder was also in happy mode,

“We  were  obviously  delighted  with  the three  points  against  South  Shields  and  that  will  give  the  lads  a  lot  of  confidence  as  they  are  one  of  the  fancied  teams  in  the  division. 
 

It  was  an  outstanding,  all-round  team  performance,  we  defended  exceptionally well  as  a  full  unit  and  also  looked  a  threat  going  forward.  The  lads  have  performed  very  well  in  the  first  few  games  and  the  games  have  hinged  on  key  moments  at  key  times,  so  we  knew  we  weren’t  too  far  away  from  picking  up  the first  victory.
 

Luke  Hinsley  came  into  the  side  and  gave  us  that  much-needed  experience  at  this  level.  His  overall  performance  helped  give  us  a  platform  in  attack,  as  well  as  defending  from  the  front  and  he  formed  a  good  partnership  with  Jordan  Harrison.  We  had  made  contact  with  Luke  in 

previous  weeks  as  he  was  looking  for  first-team  football  and  finally  got  him  sorted  over  the  Bank  Holiday  weekend.

Warrington have gained five points from their four games, one more that Ferriby so a win for The Villagers could see them climb the table.

Warrington lost their first game of the season at home to Farsley Celtic. Since then, they have won at bottom club Lancaster City and followed that victory with two goalless draws. It could make for an afternoon where The Villagers will have to be patient. They will also have to avoid any complacency following Monday’s performance.

As for Saturday’s game, Bolder has this to say,

“Warrington  Town  are  another  very  strong  side  in  the  division  and  have  made  a  steady

start  to  the  league  campaign. They  have  kept  two  clean  sheets  in  their previous  games,  so  they  will  be  looking  to  add  goals  to  that  solidity.  They,  like  many  other  teams,  are  probably 

still  gelling  together  as  a  team  and  the more  games  they  play  the  more  this  will  develop,  so  we  are  expecting  a  very  tough  afternoon.

“Eddie  Rogerson  is  the  only  real  doubt  as  he  is  nursing  a  slight  groin  problem.”
 

Bolder will have most of his squad to choose from. Aside from Rogerson, Paul Robson’s hamstring has not yet fully healed so he may not be risked with at least eight games in September.  Dan Norton returns to the reckoning after serving a one game suspension against South Shields. Luke Hinsley remains in the squad following his two-goal debut on Monday.

Ferriby have been drawn away against Marske United in the League Cup First Round on Tuesday 18 September. The game will be settled on the night by penalties if the scores are level after 90 minutes. It will be the first-ever meeting between the two clubs.
