Pre-season Friendly Frickley Athletic 0 North Ferriby United 2 Scorers: NFU: Ryan Kendall 10, Nathan Jarman 12 Two early goals gave Ferriby a fairly comfortable victory in their final pre-season game.
The first-half was competitive and end-end. However chances were few and far between. Ferriby’s approach play was good but they lacked some luck around the area as little touches and flicks hit defenders or went slightly astray.
Ryan Kendall gave Ferriby the lead after ten minutes when he calmly fired past home keeper Jamie Green from Nathan Jarman’s pass.
Two minutes later Jarman fired through a defender’s legs and beat Green at the neat post to put The Villagers two ahead.
The next significant attempt on goal after 33 minutes with Antoni Pecora superbly tipping-over Joe Fox’s 25-yard drive.
Tom Davie fired well-wide for Ferriby following good work by Danny Clarke and Paul Robson.
Ferriby were playing some attractive football and the defence and midfield pretty much snuffed=out Frickley’s attacks.
The second-half saw Ferriby create a few more chances. Kendall volleyed over from Jamie Yates’ cross then headed wide from Danny Clarke’s cross after Yates’ cross had evaded everybody. Frickley wasted a good opportunity after 60 minutes. Jason Yates saw his close-range shot well-blocked by Pecora. The rebound fell to Luke Hinsley who fired over when well-placed.
Yate’s crossing caused problems for Frickley. Matt Wilson saw his volley go straight to substitute keeper Tom Woodhead. Pecora made a good one-handed save from Yates in one of Frickley’s few penetrating attacks. Tom Davie then fed Jarman whose Flick again went straight to the keeper. Woodhead made two good saves in the closing stages. First he turned round a Kendall shot then tipped over a Gregg Anderson header. This was a professional performance by Ferriby. There was some good movement and passing that caused problems for Frickley. The defence and midfield were in control for most of the game and Pecora was solid in goal.
Ferriby Manager Billy Heath said, “It was a decent performance. It was a bit physical for the first 30 minutes. We played within ourselves in the final 30 minutes. The main objectives of the game were achieved: a win, a clean sheet and no injuries.” NFU: Antoni Pecora, Paul Robson (Dean Lisles 45), Tom Davie, Liam King (Riussell Fry 68), Matt Wilson, Danny Hone (Gregg Anderson 45), Danny Clarke (Paul robson 75), Russell Fry (Jon D’Laryea 45), Nathan Jarman, Ryan Kendall, Jamie Yates Subs not used: Adam Nicklin Frickley Athletic: Jamie Green (Tom Woodhead 45), Steve Gardner, Andy Villerman, Jake Picton, Mark Gray, Wes Milne, Joe Wilcox, Matt Bloor, Luke Hinsley, Jason Yates (Ollie Fearon 83), Joe Fox Subs not used: Danny Redfearn, Luke Jeffs, Joe Davies, Phil Oniama
