North Ferriby United play their second pre-season fixture when they host The Tigers at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium for the Billy Bly Trophy. This annual curtain raiser is eagerly anticipated by fans from both clubs as it provides an early opportunity to see close season signings.
John Anderson, The Villagers' manager has retained most of last season's side that came close to winning promotion to the Blue Square Bet Conference North. Anderson is well aware of how difficult the match against their Championship neighbours will be but will be reminding his players that the result against City is not likely to be indicative of results once the Evo-Stik Premier Division begins in August.
The Villagers will have had only a few evening training sessions plus Saturday's match at Barton in preparation for Tuesday's fixture and fitness may well be a factor as the match progresses. Despite the limited number of sessions, Anderson is happy with the way his players' attitude and the way in which they are responding to training.
As Anderson comments, "The players always welcome the opportunity to play a team from City's level. It will be a learning curve for myself and the players. It's a chance to try new moves and develop our ability to retain the ball."
Possible Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, Anton Pecora, Ben Morley, James Williams, Kevin Larvin, Paul Foot, Nathan Peat, Mark Greaves, Chris Bolder, Russell Fry, Gary Bradshaw, Wayne Brooksby, John Leonard, Danny Buttle, Sam Belcher, Craig Stoddart, Dimitar Kushiev, Mathew Stirland, Jonathan Creek
