Ferriby begin their pre-season matches with a short trip to Northern Counties East League neighbours Hall Road Rangers.
Rangers will be in buoyant mood for the coming season having gained promotion to the NCEL’s Premier Division at the end of last season.
The game is the first of 12 pre-season games for The Villagers. It may seem a lot but this many does games does have its advantages.
Ferriby’s management team of Steve Housham and Darryn Stamp are still recruiting players for the forthcoming National League North season. They will have a better knowledge and understanding of triallists by seeing them in match action rather than just seeing them on the training pitch. It also is what the players prefer: playing to training.
Housham comments,
“We’ve started training for the new season. There’s been a great turn-out and all the lads are looking in great shape.
“Sadly, we’re not in a position to match or beat the big clubs’ deals, so we play the waiting game. We’re looking for players who are young and hungry for game-time and have a point to prove at this level.”
Housham will definitely ring the changes against Hall Road, especially with his mind on Saturday’s home game against Scunthorpe United.
