Ferriby face Spennymoor Town on Saturday

Ferriby face three games in four days, starting with a home game against National League North side Spennymoor Town on Saturday. The sides met in The Villagers’ penultimate National League fixture last season and gained a more than creditable draw against a Spennymoor side that was pressing for a play-off spot.

A number of the Ferriby side that played that night will be in action again on Saturday but the visitors’ squad could be quite changed.

The  game is likely to see Chris Bolder and Paul Robson start with the players who could be in the squad for the forthcoming Northern Premier League season. They will probably be looking to give them at least 60 minutes on the pitch.

With no let-up forecast for the current heatwave, it has been challenging for all managers to give their players adequate time on the pitch without pushing them too hard in conditions that the players are largely unused to.

On the whole, the Ferriby squad has looked fit and eager in the pre-season games so far.  A run of three wins came to an end at Bottesford Town on Tuesday evening when Ferriby had to settle for a draw. The heat and the rock-hard pitch made life difficult for both sides. However, it was Bottesford who had the better of what few chances there were and they should probably have won the game.

Admission to the game is £5 for adults (£3 concessions)
